Livin’ in times of global crisis
my guitar says: “This machine kills stupidity.”
And I say: “I’m doing my best in real life
to fight against climate change, poverty and hunger
as I do it in my songs.”
At times I’m wild, at times I’m tame
but no two seconds am I the same.
I’m just lookin’ and listenin’ and feelin’
and learnin’ ’bout the world and its people,
who they are, what they are, what they know,
what they want and want to give
and want to feel and want to think
and want to be and want to do where they are.
I always feel like they teach me something,
they teach me how to plant and grow a tree
and they ask me: “What did you hear at the bottom of the sea?”
And make me see I’m free to do as I please
and am equally free to put me in my place
and they show me there’s nothin’ as great
as seein’ a little one grow each day into a living soul,
lookin’ at you, knowin’ you, answerin’ your moves,
responding to your love. It’s all from me to you.
