Another Man’s Life

This man heard the story of a woman who lived a mysterious life.
It was a very old story.
It couldn’t be put into the frame of time.
It was told in the mountain ranges.
The man was driving through this area.
He followed a trail of feelings.
He saw bizarre monsters and glowing eyes in treacherous shadows.
The hail could not stop him,
the wind could not not chase him
and the rain could not break his will.
An then he saw the light up there
and met the whispering men who told the story.
They were men with faces like carved wood.
Their eyes were deep and hollow
like their low voices.
They came near to his ear so he could feel their breath
like hizzing of the devil.
He was wondering about the woman and her mysterious life.
He adopted a simple life.
He didn’t talk too much.
He waited til spring.
He didn’t harm anybody and didn’t draw attention.
He shared the little he had.
He was almost invisible.
At the fire in the night he thus could listen to the secrets told.
He heard of the evil demon that holds the woman captive
in his web of magic spells.
This secret part of the woman’s story was never told in the open.
Whenever the murmur subsided
the man quietly withdrew into the depth of the night.
There he pondered
and the strange presence of the shadow of the demon
and the whiteness of the suffering woman
entered into the pulse of his blood.
He entered another man’s life.
