I’m sure there are some
who are not so small and so crooked.
Yes, I’m sure they must be
‘round here somewhere.
As I look down the ages
I can feel them, I can see them.
Now, what about today?
Well, I’m not so sure just now.
I looked into every corner,
I turned every page
and crossed every road and still:
What happened to our days?
O Lord, I see the small
and see the timid.
I can see the boring
and can see the wicked,
I see the false
and I see the wrong.
Are there no strong ones any more?
The leaders are weaklings,
the artists show nothing
and the singers don’t know the song
of the all-victorious Soul.
But still I turn to you:
are you the one who wakes up?
Are you the one to be free and pure?
Are you the Child of our Days?
As I look down the ages
I can feel them, I can see them.
Now, what about today?
I’m sure there are some
who are not so small and so crooked.
Yes, I’m sure they must be
‘round here somewhere.
As I look down the ages
I can feel them, I can see them.
Now, what about today?
